Frequently asked questions
Creating an account on Chessity is free. Everyone starts with a 21-day trial period, during which you can try all Chessity features for free.
Click here >> to create a free account.
You will first be asked a few questions so we can get to know you better, allowing us to serve you as best as possible. Then you can start right away!
Yes, that's possible. You can add an existing account to your family account as a player profile. You do this in account management. Read here how it works:
Click on the blue 'Manage accounts' button in the family screen:
Then click on the 'Add existing account' button
Enter the username, click on the displayed user, and confirm with add.
A message is now sent to the school with your request to link the school account. Once the school gives permission, the school account is automatically imported as a player profile into your family account.
A Chessity family account can contain up to five profiles. This way, you can learn chess with the whole family!
Learn how it works here:
Step 1: Create an account, selecting that you want a family account.
Step 2: Create the first profile
- Log in to Chessity and click on Create the first profile
- Choose a username and enter the child's first name
- Click on Create account
Step 3: Create more profiles
Click on Add profile to create more profiles
Note: You can also add existing accounts to your family. This is explained here >>.
Yes, of course, fun! A family account can include up to five people. You can decide who they are; friends or grandparents can also join.
If your own family account doesn't have room for friends, suggest to the parents to create a free family account themselves. The children can then learn and compare their results, play games against each other in the Arena, participate in the same tournaments, and both families can compete against each other in the weekly family competition!
If you receive a message that the email address is already in use when creating an account, it means an account with this email address already exists. You have previously created an account.
If you don't remember your username and password, you can retrieve them by clicking 'Forgot Password' and 'Forgot Username' on the login page.
Golden tip: if you want to create a new account with the same email address, there's a trick to bypass the issue. You do this by using the plus sign (+) when creating a new account. It works as follows:
Suppose chessto@gmail.com is in use, but you still want to create a family account with this email address. A solution is to use, for example, Chessto+family@gmail.com. Note that you can fill in anything after the plus sign! It's important to remember or write down this specific email address. If you want to log in, you must write exactly chessto+family@gmail.com. You will receive login details and welcome emails at chessto@gmail.com.
With this trick, it's possible to create multiple accounts with the same email address.
To change your email address, first go to My Account (menu at the top right). Scroll down to Account Information and enter the new email address. Then click on Save.
Do you want to shield your child from contact with strangers, unlock lessons or change passwords? By choosing the desired settings for each profile, you control what your child can and cannot do at Chessity.
In your family start screen, click on the 'Manage accounts' button
(demo images below are in Dutch)
To prevent children from changing settings without the consent of their parent(s), you must now first enter a verification code. You will receive this by e-mail.
Fill in the verification code in this screen and click OK
You will now access the Manage Students tool. Here is a list of the profiles with the corresponding settings.
The available profile settings are based on our many years of experience with Chessity in primary education. They allow you to set up an optimal and safe learning and playing environment for your child.
For detailed information on the settings, read: Where can I manage the settings of my students' accounts?
That's not a problem. You can also log in to Chessity with your email address.
Click on Forgot Password on the login screen.
Enter your email address and click on Reset Password. You will receive an email with your username and instructions on how to set a new password.
For users with a student account: ask your teacher or coach to reset your password in the Manage Student Accounts tool.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to change the username of your account.
However, you can change your personal details, account type, or email address.
Your free account gives you three weeks of unlimited access to all premium features of Chessity. After three weeks, your account is automatically converted to a freemium account. You can still complete all lessons at the Pawn level and participate in tournaments, but the premium features (e.g., unlimited lessons, earning diplomas, unlimited tournament participation) are locked. You can resume at any time by choosing a premium subscription.
So you don't need to cancel your account yourself.
After the chosen period ends, your subscription is automatically renewed for the same duration unless you cancel in advance. When you cancel, you still have access to the Premium subscription for the full duration of your subscription.
After this period ends, your Premium account is converted to a freemium account. This means the main features of Chessity are locked. However, all your data remains intact. So, want to get back to it later? You can, without losing your progress.
At Chessity, fun comes first. If a yearly subscription was just renewed and this wasn't intended, please contact customer service at contact@chessity.com. Something can surely be arranged!
Once your trial period ends, or your Premium subscription expires, your account will still exist. Without a Premium subscription, only the Pawn-level lessons are available. You can no longer participate in unlimited tournaments, and printing diplomas is not possible.
Your account progress remains intact. If you choose a Premium subscription again later, all previously achieved results will become visible.
You can cancel your subscription at any time up to one day before your next payment date. Upon cancellation, you will keep your Premium benefits until the end of your current subscription period.
To cancel your subscription go to My profile and click 'Cancel subscription'
If you think you will never use Chessity again, you can easily delete your account. Go to your account settings and scroll all the way to the bottom of the page. Note: deleting your account is permanent. This cannot be undone.
If you have a student account (a teacher or chess coach created your account), you cannot delete your account because the teacher or coach has administrative rights.
Use the QR code on the receipt or go to www.chessity.com/activate and enter your activation code here.
