What does the free Chess workshop from Chessity entail?
The Chessity workshop is the best way to start chess in the classroom. The workshop is designed so that you, as a teacher or chess coach, can start in a few clicks. Then all students can immediately start with their first lesson. The workshop is the ideal way to introduce students to chess. And with Chessity!

Why do I need to type a suffix in the workshop?
Within Chessity, all users have a unique account name. Since there can be more students named David or Lisa, a way is needed to distinguish them. Therefore, you can come up with a fun one to add to it.
We recommend using an abbreviation of your school or club. This has a nice bonus! If you participate in a tournament in the Arena, all your students form a close team because they all represent the same school or club.

For which groups is the Chessity workshop suitable?
The workshop is suitable for all ages. Within Chessity, a system is set up so that students who already know something about chess can skip certain steps.
However, we recommend starting with Chessity from age 7. Why?
At that age, children can read well, understand the rules better, and have enough patience and willingness to learn.
And most importantly: they are often curious and love to learn through games. Exactly what makes chess so fun!

My student can already play chess well. Can they start at a higher level?
Yes, they can! When students create their account, they are asked how they want to start. Here they can indicate whether they already have some chess experience or if they just want to start learning by playing. Students who indicate they have chess experience first take a short test with some chess positions where they can try to find the best move. If they successfully answer these questions, they can skip a certain section! This way, a student might just start at the white-rook level.
Tip: children often overestimate their own level. They then start with lessons that are too difficult, leading to frustration. Therefore, for most students, it is wise to simply start at the beginning by choosing the left option on the start screen.

My student can't join the workshop. What now?
Sometimes a student accidentally ends up on the regular website instead of the workshop environment. Make sure the student types the correct link! Have the students log in via www.chessity.com/start
Tips to prevent login issues
- Have the students visit the website only after you have started the workshop.
- Ensure the students type www.chessity.com/start in the address bar. If they go via a Google search result, logging in often doesn't work.
