King and queen mate: practice

You have practiced the king and queen checkmate. Let’s review the steps that are needed:

• drive the king to the edge of the board
• with the queen, trap the king to the side of the board
• bring in a friend: move the king up the board
• take care to avoid stalemate!

Have a look at the example to refresh your memory.

In the previous lessons, you received help from the computer. Rows of flames showed you where to trap the opponent’s king. And hints helped you find good moves for your queen and king.

In this lesson you have to do it all by yourself. Just like in a real game of chess. The more you practice, the better you will get!
