Defending against pins (1)

In the previous lessons you have practised with pins. Pins force enemy pieces to stay where they are to prevent the loss of a more valuable piece hiding behind it.

Defending against a pin can be done by means of:

  • interposing a piece between the pinner and the pinned piece
  • capturing the pinning piece
  • creating a counterattack
  • adding defenders to the pinned piece

Study the examples to understand how it works.

What do you have to do?

Prevent material loss by a successful defense against a pin.
