Choosing the right attacker

What do you have to do?
In this lesson you have to regain material by attacking a piece more often than it is defended.

First, find an enemy piece that is under attack. Then count the number of attackers and defenders. Calculate whether you can win material by capturing the piece.

Think carefully about which piece you are going to capture with because that is where things can go wrong.
Sometimes your piece which is attacking is also defending.
Or maybe another piece of yours is attacked somewhere else....

Look at the example.
You can capture the black knight at the edge. But do you capture with your bishop or with the knight? See what happens if you capture with the bishop first!
