Openingtrainer pitfall 4

After both parties develop, tension arises on the board. Do you remember what tension means? We are not talking about psychological tension or electronic tension here, but about tension that arises from the contact between different pieces.

In the example you see such a position where there is tension. The central white knight and the black knight are in contact. White does not immediately have to release the tension because the white knight is covered. However, it is important to keep an eye on the tension between these pieces. By placing the bishop clumsily between the queen and the knight, the connection is broken and a piece is suddenly lost. Of course that was not our intention!

So keep a close eye on all attacking relationships and defensive relationships on the board.

What do you have to do?

Look for the best moves, but keep the tension in mind so you don't fall into a pitfall!
