Eliminating a defender (1)

In chess, it is important that your pieces are well protected. This makes it less attractive for the opponent to capture your pieces, since you can always capture back. 

Your opponent will naturally try to play in the same way by protecting their pieces. Nevertheless, tactical possibilities sometimes even arise when enemy pieces are well protected. If the protection of a piece is limited then you can first go after the defender and win material subsequently.
